This program is a great program. It is an outlet for an addictive problem, that goes beyond a 12-Step Program. Number one benefit – Education. The education about this addiction was a godsend. Then the process of walking us through all those recovery steps with homework, was very good. Makes you think and recognize what this addiction has done to your life.

So one of the concerns that is occurring in the culture is, now that kids are being exposed to so much technology, so much of the internet, so much access to different ways to communicate by technology, that the sexual opportunities and exposure has increased in such a rapid fashion that most parents can’t keep up with it. And the normative curve around what should be considered normal from what is pathological or troublesome or addictive is rapidly shifting.
The ability to be sexual trough technology has increased. For example sexting is a new kids are now sharing and exploring themselves sexually. It’s a quandary for researchers, clinicians, and parents because some kids are going to explore who aren’t going to have problems. And some are. Just like some kids are going to drink and not turn into alcoholics. They might drink too much and they pull back.
As a parent, I can get concerned about my son, he’s eleven, when he seems on the Internet too much. We have to regulate his use sometimes and teach boundaries, and we can’t control everything. So it really is about teaching your children how to prevent themselves from being over stimulated. And so we’ve taught him guidelines. So you’ve got to teach your children what’s going to happen when they get exposed.

Testimonials
The nurturing environment combined with the accountability was exactly what I needed to begin breaking through my codependency habits.
I have made significant strides in my recovery. Some more order has been restored to my life [by this program]. This part of my recovery revealed some wounds that need healing.
My overall impression of the Beginnings Care Program in regards to codependency and addiction is both informative and supportive! Giving me the opportunity to learn, grow and heal rather than continue with all the negative coping. It has also benefited my recovery by helping me to ‘detach’ and be healthier while doing so.
My desperation has gone away.
